The Coastal Classic is on in just over two weeks and we are looking forward to seeing a full field of runners tackle the course from Otford to Bundeena.
As always, we’ve been working closely with Transport for NSW for some time to make sure runners can get to the event. Unfortunately, late planned trackwork on event weekend will impact the Coastal Classic this year. The trackwork will mean trains will not be running between Sutherland and Wollongong, meaning a change in how most runners get to the Start line.
Transport for NSW’s own replacement bus service that runs via Helensburgh/Otford simply isn’t going to cut it for an event this size. So, we are currently arranging our own buses to get all runners to Otford for the start instead. To do that properly, i.e. make sure we have enough buses for all runners, we need to understand everyone’s travel plans for event day with that trackwork in mind. Please click the button below and let us know how you will plan to travel to Otford for the start on event day:
- Drive to Sutherland and catch a bus (arranged by us) to Otford
- Catch public transport to Sutherland, then catch a bus (arranged by us) to Otford
- Catch public transport from the Wollongong direction
- I’ve got my own transport sorted / not using public transport (i.e getting dropped off at Otford)
A couple of other important things to note:
- There’s still no participant parking at Otford, and travelling back there after the race will now take even more time than normal — please don’t plan to leave your car at Otford.
- Normal event shuttle buses from the Finish line at Bundeena to Sutherland are unaffected and remain in place.
- Depending on availability of buses and timings, we may need to adjust start times/waves, we will let all runners know promptly if we need to do that.
