Looking for a unique way to see the city of Sydney? On Saturday 22nd November the Kathmandu Urban is returning once again to the heart of Sydney for another year of bewildering clues which will have you beavering around the city completing activities.

The first puzzle you will need to solve is which category do you enter Racing or Social? Speed alone won’t get you to the finish line first. It’s perfect for kids, so make it a family day out and bring the kids along.

Challenge takes off in WA!

Great Adventure Challenge
QLD – 11th October 2014
NSW – 25th October 2014
VIC – 15th November 2014

Stormy weather did nothing to dampen the spirits and grit of Perth’s top corporate teams in WA’s inaugural Great Adventure Challenge on 19 July 2014.

Excellent teamwork proved essential in tackling the unusually tricky WA conditions with competitors revelling in conquering every challenge thrown at them. Even when a late thunderstorm meant some teams missed the last checkpoint and had to retrace their steps, everyone still finished with smiles on their faces.

Team Ferrier “Ferries” Hodgson was first across the line, and Team KPMG the top fundraisers. PwC team ‘Juan’s Bandits’ won the ‘fabulous fashion’ award thanks to several male team members wearing ‘Starlight’ purple tutus throughout the entire race.

As always, there was great camaraderie amongst the participants with stories of rival teams stopping to help others with difficulties on the course. All the teams had enormous fun, and are already planning how to dethrone Ferrier Hodgson next year.

Is your team registered?

If not, then what are you waiting for? Head over to the website and register now! If you have registered, why not try and encourage others within your organisation to enter an additional team? The more teams participating, the greater the fun and the more funds raised for seriously ill children around Australia.

Event Wrap Up

Kathmandu Adventure Series – Blue Mountains, NSW
Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd August, 2014

The Kathmandu Adventure Series returned to Glenbrook in the Lower Blue Mountains last weekend for the 4th event of the 2014 series.

The racing was fast & furious, the course was challenging and exciting with new single trail mountain biking goodness proving a big hit and the weather was sunny winters day perfect. All in all the participants agreed, a great event just got that much better. The racing was extremely close at the pointy end with small mistakes proving the difference in most categories. When pushing as hard as these top teams do it’s easy to make that one crucial error that comes back to haunt you.

On Saturday the top two places were taken by two experienced and super quick teams. ‘Belrose Bicycles’ stormed around the course and took the overall quickest time of the weekend and won the Males category in 2hrs 38mins & 25secs, meanwhile in the Premier Mixed Category ‘Traces of Nuts’ took out their category in 2hrs 45mins & 34secs. Both of these teams are regular winners in the Kathmandu Adventure Series and have proved once again that when they are on they are extremely difficult to beat. The Female category on Saturday was won by ‘Princess & Nugget’ in just over 3 and a quarter hours, this also proved to be the quickest time for their category across both days.

On Sunday the racing was no less intense, in the Premier Mixed Category ‘Mixed Up’ beat ‘Treksters’ across the line by only 3 seconds, over three hours of racing and only three seconds between them, incredible. The ‘Mighty Mountain Goats’ won the Female category on Sunday while team ‘Toucan’ followed up their victory in the Male category in the Saturday event at the Royal National Park leg by taking out the Sunday version this time around.

While it is easy to highlight the winners, the real victors on the day was all the teams out there, some for as long as 6 hours, enjoying a real adventure on their weekend, enjoying the stunning course and all the usual challengers presented during adventure racing.

The Kathmandu Adventure Series now heads to Victoria with the event at Lysterfield Lake to be held on Saturday 8th November. Entries are open now so grab yourself a team mate, a pair of runners, a mountain bike and a sense of adventure and you are set to go! That’s all you need, so click on the link below and register!
