Max Adventure Race Series

Saturday, 17th February 2018
Lake Macquarie, NSW

Entries are now open for the first race at Cams Wharf in Lake Macquarie.

Short, fast, fun and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Max Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Teams of two will have to change between three core disciplines several times during the event including mountain biking, running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete and suit all levels of fitness and experience!

A typical ‘Classic’ course could consist of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. While a typical ‘Novice’ course could be made up of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Part of the excitement of the event is not knowing the course until on the day meaning good course planning and navigation is just as important as your level of fitness.

So, if you’re new to the sport of adventure racing or you’re looking for an exciting challenge that lives up to your love of the outdoors and action packed adventure, then the Max Adventure Race series is a great way to experience what this growing sport is all about.

Event Wrap Up

Coastal Classic
Saturday 2nd September 2017
Royal National Park, NSW

A warm Spring day greeted over 900 runners for the 2017 Coastal Classic. It was stunning weather for the 29km trail run from Otford to Bundeena along the world famous ‘Coast Track’.

Competition at the front was especially fierce where David Byrne took overall line honours in a smashing time of 2hrs 16mins & 6secs, just outside the course record. Six minutes later and second home overall was Brendan Davies, four minutes in front of Ronnie Sparke who completed the podium spots.

First Woman home was Michelle Gailey in 2hrs 44mins & 31secs with Sarah Tapp finishing in second place, less than a minute in front of Jess Carrol.

While these super fast runners might have taken the podium spots (and some sweet prizes from Osprey Packs) the real winners were all the runners who got to experience trail running at its best. Plenty of returning runners smashed their PB while newcomers couldn’t stop raving about the spectacular views around every corner. Many a tale was told and new friendships formed out on course or in the sunshine at the finish line overlooking Port Hacking with an ice cold 4 Pines beer in hand.

The Coastal Classic will be back on the first Saturday in September 2018. Pencil in Monday the 16th of April when the 2018 tickets go on sale, so you don’t miss out on the fun next year!

Glenbrook, Blue Mountains, NSW

More glorious sunny and warm weather greeted a record number of teams at last weekends Paddy Pallin Adventure Series round at the Lower Blue Mountains just west of Sydney. An exciting course for both the Classic and Novice courses consisted of a short rogaine around the hub, kayaking on the Nepean River, trail running, perfect single track for the mountain bike and to all competitors excitement the canyon splash & scramble through Glenbrook Gorge.

With temperatures predicted to push into the high 30’s the start time was moved 1 hour early with most teams enjoying the cool morning and escaping the afternoon heat.
