Maximum Adventure Race Series

Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May, 2018
Royal National Park, Sydney, NSW

The Maximum Adventure Race is a series of events comprising four core disciplines; mountain biking, trail running/trekking, flat water kayaking (boats provided) and navigation across a variety of different and challenging terrains.

Created for teams of two, the races are fast, furious and ultimately a whole lot of fun. The next NSW event in the series will be hosted by the Royal National Park, an hour South of Sydney and the most popular of the series. Held on two separate days with the same course on offer on both days, you can choose which day to race. This means more opportunities for you and your team mate to join in the fun.

With the Classic course, which takes between three to six hours to complete, and the Novice course, for newcomers to the sport and half the length of the Classic, running on both the Saturday and Sunday there’s no excuse.

So what are you waiting for? Early Bird pricing is still available so you won’t find a cheaper entry than what is on offer right now! So grab a team mate and start planning a real weekend adventure!

Event Wrap Up

Maximum Adventure Race Series
Saturday 17th February, 2018
Lake Macquarie, NSW

The first event of the 2018 Maximum Adventure Race Series is done and dusted. It was a fantastic day for all the Classic and Novice teams, trail running, mountain biking and kayaking with some added coasteering fun thrown in as well.

Congratulations to all the teams that successfully navigated around the course. With a number of different route choices to be made and multiple legs of trail running and mountain biking all the teams were kept on their toes.

Fastest Male teams around the Classic course were the Super Nintendo Chalmers (Tim Doman & Andrew Lloyd) just in front of Team Thule-Rudy Project-Cheeky Bikes (Damien Enderby & Rob Bennett) and Belrose Bicycles (Chad & Ryan Armstrong). All these team collected all the bonus checkpoints which dropped their total event time to below two hours.

The Mixed category was taken out by Hollywood (Derrick Cant & Ginaya Dunn) who finished 8 minutes in front of the Bellpatricks (Riordan Bell & Alice Fitzpatrick) with Idiots Abroad (Abbie Hughes & Andy Mellor) in 3rd. The top three Mixed teams all finished in under three hours total time which was an outstanding effort on the tough course.

Strategy played an important part in determining the fastest Female teams with different decisions made on how many bonus checkpoints to pick up proving crucial in the final make up of the podium. Coming out on top were team Dragonflies (Jane Senior & Vinia Venrooy) in front of Nature Queens (Simone Concha & Kathryn Cassidy) and Stellar Girls (Heather Hankinson & Vanessa Freeman).

A real highlight this year were the large number of Novice teams participating in their first adventure race. Sixty Novice teams is a record for the event with the new teams learning a lot and really getting a taste of what this great sport is all about. A number of Novice teams were already planning to step up to the full Classic course at the next event in the series.

A special shoutout to all our hard working volunteers in red who lent a hand and helped make this event happen either out on course as a marshall or at the event centre. Without our volunteers we couldn’t put on these events.
