Bouddi Coastal Run

Saturday 13th November, 2021

Killcare, Central Coast NSW

We’re back again this year with the spectacular Bouddi Coastal Run happening later in the year on Saturday 13th November.

This edition of the trail run is set to be the biggest yet with event capacity back up to where we left off before COVID was upon us in 2020.

Along with the regular 14km and 21km courses through Bouddi National Park on offer, we also have a special event just for the kids, with a 1km Kids Beach Run planned in 2021. This mean the little tikes can ‘trail run’ just like mum and dad and score themselves an official finishers medal too.

The annual Lakes Festival presented by Central Coast Council, a 10-day extravaganza with 10 event hub locations across the Central Coast with over 20 free events, is back again this year too. This means that there will be so much to do on the Central Coast over the weekend for you and the family that its a good idea to start planning your trip and deciding what you’d like to experience now. Check out all the festival information and Central Coast Visitor Information here.

We’re also proud to be supporting Camp Quality this year as the events official Charity Partner. Camp Quality gives kids facing cancer the chance to be kids again. Camp Quality provides kids and their families with fun experiences, trusted information, coping tools and a supportive community; in-hospital, online, at school and away from it all on camps and at our retreats.

Camp Quality need your help and are offering some great runner incentives for those that start fundraising in the lead-up to the event. It’s simple to set up and all you need to do is register on the Bouddi Coastal Run Fundraising Page here and a Camp Quality representative will be in touch to guide you through the fundraising process and help you every step of the way over the next few months. Alternatively you can make a donation at the time of entering the event online.

Don’t delay and get your Bouddi Coastal Run entry in now before the next price rise!

On the other hand, if you’re an experienced adventure racer or have complete a few races before, then the race is the perfect opportunity to either step up in course distance or hone your efficiency and chase that PB or podium position.

The course at Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains is jam-packed with action including a purpose built single track section for the mountain bike legs. Plus who can go past the epic kayaking that awaits you on the Nepean River with the overpowering cliff faces on either side of you? Trail runners wont miss out either, with a mix a ……and …….. trails to get the heart pumping.

This years race is also held over the whole weekend with both a Classic and Novice course being offered on each day. That means you can choose to race on either day or if you’re super keen, why not back up and do both days with an alternate course on offer on Sunday?

Never done an adventure race before? No problems! All you need is a pair of runners and a mountain bike because we provide the kayaks. But if you dont have a bike thats ok too, with our preferred supplier offering bike hires with pick up and drop off at the Event Centre to make it that much easier for you. Find more logistics info here.

Sunshine Coast Adventure Race Wrap

Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th July, 2021

Wild Horse Mountain, Sunshine Coast, QLD

That’s a wrap on the Sunshine Coast Adventure Race event for 2021! We hope you had a blast, whether you participated on Saturday or Sunday (or both!) and enjoyed the course on the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

A strong field of Classic and Novice teams trail ran, mountain biked and kayaked on both days including the legendary kids teams who battled it out on Sunday riding and running on their own special course, some with parents in tow. Smiles were seen all round with teams crossing that finish line, both from achievement and no doubt relief. Perfect weather across the weekend, meant that all teams had to do was worry about their route choice and finding the fastest (or most enjoyable) way home.

Congratulations to all Classic team podium finishers on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, in the Mixed category ‘A Gaggle of Giess’ (Shaye & Michael Giess) were the first team home with ‘Precisely When we Mean To’ (Courtney Goodacre & Sam Barrow) and ‘Adkat Xcite’ (Katina & Adam Woods) rounding out the podium. ‘Awesome Adventurers’ (Melanie Lightbody & Jenny Knight)  showed off their skills to come home more than 30minutes in front of ‘Girl Torque’ (Maree Price & Wezel Sarah Van) and ‘WTF – Where’s the Finish’ (Bree Habner & Anita Magee) in the Female category. While for the Male teams ‘Ramrod’ (Luke Johnston & Kieran McAuliffe) and ‘BWAR’ (Everett Putney & Glenn Wilkinson) followed home the winning Male team, and quickest time overall on the day, ‘Empire Strikes Back’ (Andrew & Ben Gillespie) who completed the course in a staggering 3hrs, 17minutes & 46seconds once bonus checkpoints were factored in.

On Sunday, it was once again ‘Empire Strikes Back’ who took out the win amongst the Male teams, and with the overall quickest time, an outstanding achievement! ‘Trick’ (Trent Raddatz & Michael Clauson) were second with ’99 Tigers’ (Rick Wenck & Lucas Bolton) finishing third. ‘Adventurous Nutrs’ (Cathy Hunt & Penny Butler) were the quickest Female team, beating home ‘Two Crazy Chicks (Tara Hassan & Alison Poot) and ‘Wild Mums’ (Ros Cradden & Michelle Reardon). In the Mixed category only 4 seconds separated ‘Moxie Tiger’s’ (Scott Poad & Laura Newton) in 2nd and ‘Freedom Adventure’ (Ron McCartney & Kylie Alderson) in 3rd. Taking out the win in the Mixed category however was ‘Wrong Direction’ (Carl Perkins & Scout Hinchcliffe) who were obviously going in the right direction most of the day!

These teams might have been at the pointy end of the Classic courses but there were plenty of other teams both Classic & Novice, who got out there on both days, many for the first time, gave it their all and enjoyed a real adventure in the forest, so we congratulate all these teams. Let’s not forget the Kids racing on Sunday either, some serious talent in there and the future of adventure racing!

Thank you to all our sponsors and suppliers who supported our event, which without their support we could not offer participants the race day experience they enjoyed, including the Classic course podium prizes to come in the mail or via email (watch your inbox for an email in the next week letting you know your prize if you were one of these teams). Lucky teams have scored either Fisiocrem product prize packs, Salming Running shoe vouchers, Ascent Sports Nutrition consultation vouchers or Maximum Adventure Race Series entry vouchers.

A very special shout out also goes to our hard working volunteers and crew who volunteered their time, lent a hand and helped make this weekend long event happen. We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you!

Full results and photos are available on the buttons below.

We look forward to seeing you all back in 2022 at our Brisbane or Sunshine Coast events for another great weekend of adventure racing!
