Race Tip: Don't Follow the Team in Front!
Kathmandu Adventure Series – Royal National Park
Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th May, 2014
With just over two weeks to go, now is the time to make sure you have all of your mandatory gear. It can be a nightmare trying to find a pea-less whistle and space blanket on Friday night unless you are on your way to a rave party. Also make sure your Mountain Bike has been serviced recently or even better ridden recently. You may laugh but it does happen all too frequently.
Race tip for the day: Do not follow the team in front as they may be following the team in front of them etc. The team at the very front may not know where they are going.
Call for volunteers
We still need a couple more volunteers for this event. If your friends or partner are coming along to support you, why not ask them to volunteer while they wait for you to finish the race. They get a free shirt, cap, goodie bag and lots of thanks and appreciation. Your day could consist of helping with registration or assisting at one of the many checkpoints on the course.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, send an email to: info@maxadventure.com.au – or send us your details by completing our convenient online volunteer proforma at: Volunteer Proforma

Tough Bloke Challenge - Serious or Fun?
Tough Bloke Challenge – Appin, NSW
Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th June 2014
We make a fuss about the pointy end winners of the Tough Bloke Challenge who plough their way through the 25 obstacles risking life and limb for line honours and the added bonus of taking home the trophy but who really does it tougher?
Those Tough Blokes and Tough Chicks are super fit, muscles bulging and wearing nothing but skin tight compression gear but hey spare a thought for those that drag that extra few kilos of mud around the 8km course by wearing a FANCY DRESS costume!! Imagine wearing a chicken onesie, being Darth Vader or for some reason running wrapped in glad wrap (still not sure who he is meant to be?) For a collection of some of our favourite costumes click HERE
Why do it when you know you won’t get a spot on the podium and people will only laugh and point at you? Well its fun, that’s why! Plus we have some great PRIZES for best fancy dress on both days. Increase your chance of winning the FANCY DRESS category by getting creative NOW!!! Dress up with someone else or as a group and come and show us what you’ve got!!

Convict 100 Wrap Up
Convict 100 – St Albans, NSW
Convict 100 Race Report
By Mike Blewitt (MarathonMTB)
Australia has a handful of iconic marathon races – races that have a story, an impressive list of victors, and offer something that everyone enjoys – from elite to back marker. The Convict 100 is one of these, and on Saturday 3rd May, 2014, it celebrated its 10th anniversary.
The Convict 100 has run on a set course for a number of its 10 years; and the course record for the 100kms sits well under 4hrs, and is held by Shaun Lewis. It’s a fast course, and people tend to know their best time. It’s a test piece for a lot of Sydney based mountain bikers, and a prestigious win for an elite racer. In 2014, it was also the final round of the Real Insurance XCM Series, and the results would play a big role in the final ranking.
