Wombat 100 joins National XCM Series

Wombat 100, Woodend, Victoria
Sunday 12th April, 2015

The Wombat 100 will join a list of high quality events to form part of the 2015 National XCM Series. The truly National series spans four states and both territories, offering riders almost 600 kilometers of Australia’s best mountain bike trails. The Wombat 100 makes up the Victorian leg of the six race series and provides both elite and recreational riders an opportunity to race the quality trails in the Wombat State Forest, just outside of Woodend.

As a result of joining the National XCM Series, all riders at the Wombat 100 will receive personal accident & public liability insurance whilst competing in the event. This cover is provided by MTBA and included in your entry fee.

Entries for all course distances are now open – come and join us for a great day of mountain biking.

Need a Training Plan?

For 2015 we have partnered with a company called “Today’s Plan” who have developed a very powerful web based training & analytics tool for cyclists. This coaches riders to train in a structured, scientifically proven way and allows riders to specifically train for the Wombat 100 race distances! Sports Scientist and coaching guru Mark Fenner is one of the founders of Today’s Plan and the system uses his proven training methodology.

One of the fantastic things about Today’s Plan is the flexibility it offers, allowing riders to tailor their training to the time they have available – whether it be 5 or 25 hours each week to ride – and also to tailor their availability on different days of the week.

Trail Running at it's Best!

Jabulani Challenge
Ku-Ring-Gai National Park, Sydney
Saturday 18th April 2015

Ahh, trail running, the joys of pitting yourself against the great outdoors, just you and a pair of shoes against the wilderness. Nothing quite compares to the feeling of flying along a trail, skipping over logs and rocks, flowing downhill like a stream, then attacking the uphills with gusto!

Now days there seems to be trail running events every weekend, so then the question is raised, which do we put our hard-earned cash into?

Well, we have the answer, the Jabulani Challenge!

Set in the weekend playground of thousands of locals in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park this is what trail running is all about. Consisting of a stunning course featuring some famous local trails like the Gibberagong and Warrimoo Track and running directly alongside the beautiful Cowan Creek and finishing at historically significant Bobbin Head this is where you want to be come mid-April.

Organised by the team that brings you the phenomenon that is the Coastal Classic each year it is past time that the residents from north of the harbour see what those from the southern suburbs have know for years. When it comes to putting on a trail running event close to Sydney but making you feel like you are miles from anywhere the team at Maximum Adventure know the score.

So not only will your entry fee get you a trail running event of the highest order you will also be contributing to a very worthy cause. The Stellenbosch Community Development Programme is a volunteer ran and founded organisation that is committed to helping young disadvantaged children in Africa. The Stellenbosch Community Development Programme is a direct beneficiary of the Jabulani Challenge which takes it’s name from the Zulu word for ‘Be Happy’ and that is something you will definitely be on the 18th of April at the Jabulani Challenge…HAPPY!
