The first event in the 2017 Paddy Pallin Adventure Series kicks off in 5 weeks. The totally new course is shaping up to be the best yet, with a great mix of running, kayaking, and mountain biking.

The event will take place in the Southern section of Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area with long stretches of stunning foreshore, fun single-track mountain biking, and pockets of rainforest.

Enter before this lucky Friday, the 13th of January, and save yourself $20 per team.

Volunteers wanted!

We are putting the call out for volunteers to assist with the Lake Macquarie event.

If you are a competitor and your friends or partner are coming along to support you, why not ask them to volunteer. They get a free shirt, cap, free food and drink and a big hug from the race director. Their day could consist of helping with such tasks as manning a checkpoint, acting as a course marshal, or a variety of other tasks.

Mountain Biking at its Best

The Convict 100 is an ‘institution’ in Australian mountain biking! As one of the first marathon events established in Australia, it consistently inspires all entrants to push their personal boundaries. The 2017 event will be the ‘lucky’ 13th installment and with 100km, 68km & 44km courses available there is a distance to suit riders of all skill & fitness levels.

Hosted from the sleepy township of St. Albans only 2 hours North of Sydney, the course follows the historic Convict Trail through the heart of the Hawkesbury Valley, taking in some of the best scenery the area has to offer. The mix of fast fire trail, technical rock gardens, rocky descents and spectacular ridgeline views is unmatched by any other MTB event. It is rugged, remote and one epic adventure on a bike! And we haven’t even mentioned the ‘infamous’ kayak bridge yet.

Riders can choose between the full “Century of Dirt” at 100km in length, the “Convict Half” at 68km or a 44km introductory ride for beginners and juniors. This is one mountain biking weekend you do not want to miss!

Calling all Tough Blokes, Tough Chicks & Tough Kids

Tough Bloke Challenge

With the 2017 upon us, it is about time you asked yourself…Are you Tough Enough?

You like going to the gym? You consider yourself pretty fit? Or are you just keen to gather a group of friends and laugh at each other as you crawl through mud pits? If you answered YES to any of these questions it sounds like you are ready to accept the challenge and sign up for the Tough Bloke Challenge!

Held just South of Sydney and featuring over 25 hair-raising, military style obstacles this event is not for the faint of heart. The elites will be lining up early in the day (shirt optional) to see if they can claim the coveted title of the ‘Toughest Bloke’ or ‘Toughest Chick’ before the everyday heroes have their moment in the sun to prove they are tough enough to conquer the course and claim their free finishers medal and beer.

The Tough Kids Challenge is back in 2017 as well so the younger ones don’t miss out on the fun. Open to all Tough Kids aged between 6 and 11 on a shortened 2km course but still featuring a free finishers medals. This is one event you will be rushing back to school on Monday to tell all your friends about!

Entries are now open with some tickets still available for only $70 for the adult waves, cheaper for the Tough Kids. As each wave start time fills up the price will increase so now is the time to sign up and save, what are you waiting for…ENTER NOW

Have you made a New Year’s resolution to try something new in 2017? Or is it perhaps time to pick up something old and get back into it?

Either way if you’re new to adventure racing or need to brush up on your skills then the Adventure Racing Clinic on 4th February is for you!

The clinic is a great introduction to the sport of adventure racing including practical advice on individual preparation, gear requirements and nutrition.

The key emphasis will be on enhancing navigational skills and practical sessions on mountain biking and kayaking led by qualified instructors.
