Coastal Classic

Saturday 2nd September 2023

Royal National Park, NSW

After a lot of work behind the scenes we are excited to finally announce that the Coastal Classic will remain as an Otford to Bundeena linear course in 2023!

Due to the closure of Garie Rd and The Coastal Track south of Garie the event will run from Otford to Garawarra Farm, along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive (for 1km) and then down the Curra Moors Track to re-join The Coastal Track and continue to Bundeena. The adjusted course remains at 30km.  More information and maps are available HERE.

Massive thanks to all involved in making this alternative point to point course happen. If you’ve been waiting for this update we hope you are now as excited as we are for this year’s event. Grab your entries soon because we suspect the event will once again sell out.

We know this is a favourite event for many runners and we look forward to seeing you on the start line next month!

Max Adventure Race

Saturday 16th September
Blue Mountains, NSW

The last event in the 2023 Max Adventure Series kicks off in mid-September and presents the perfect opportunity to sink your teeth into this fun team-based sprint distance race.

The Classic Course teams will tackle the spectacular canyon of Glenbrook Gorge this year, rock hopping and wading along the narrow creek line. Also featuring a blast down the purpose-built single-track mountain bike trail and paddling on the Nepean River this is one event that will not disappoint! The course through Glenbrook Gorge is a long-time favourite for teams so if you haven’t experienced it yet you need to give it a go!

The Novice Course teams don’t miss out either, the course might be shorter and flatter, but teams will still get to experience the exciting mountain bike trails, meandering run legs and views over Glenbrook Gorge. If you haven’t tried one of the Max Adventure Race events then this is the perfect place to start.

Glenbrook is near the base of the Blue Mountains, easily accessible from all over Sydney (less than an hour from the CBD).

No need to stress about the gear either; kayaks are provided by us and there’s the option to hire a mountain bike if you’re in need.

With the event fast approaching now is the time to enter. You’ll save yourself some dollars by entering before the price rise next week. Enter before midnight Wednesday 16th September and you will save yourself $20 per team.

All you need is a team mate, a pair of shoes and a sense of adventure. It couldn’t be easier! There really is no excuse not to sign up now.

Raffertys Coastal Run

15 July 2023

Lake Macquarie, NSW

That’s a wrap for the Raffertys Coastal Run 2023! Congratulations to all who took on the Raffertys Coastal Run challenge and joined us for the journey from calm lake shore to rugged coastline. We hope you’re still riding high on that sense of accomplishment after conquering the course!

Weather conditions for this event has been a bit of a sore spot for us in the past, but Mother Nature was clearly in a generous mood. Runners were greeted with a glorious, sunny day making it hard to believe we are mid-winter; and favorable tides set the scene for a perfect coastal trail run race.

The low tide’s packed sand certainly helped runners in the 36km course, while the overall drier conditions ensured the fire trails were set for faster running than we’ve seen in previous editions of the Raffertys Coastal Run.

Podium places across all distances were tight!  In the 36 km, Josef Mcgrath backed up his February win slicing an impressive 16 minutes off his time, and Amelia Kerr was first across the line in the women’s with a very slick 3:30hr time. Geoff Arnold and Sarah Whitley rulers of the 22km kingdom; and Tim Manuel and Monika Ludriks, masters of the in the 12km realm.

Big congratulations to these runners and all other category winners and finishers – full results are available online, so you can brag about your achievements with cold, hard data!

We can’t let the credits roll without acknowledging our amazing event sponsors. Raffertys ResortLake Macquarie City CouncilTarkineTailwind Nutrition Australia and Mountain Culture Beer Co. Your support and partnership played a vital role in making this event such an enjoyable day for all.

And now, a standing ovation for our incredible team of volunteers! You wonderful beings gave your time, effort and boundless enthusiasm. We are so grateful for your selfless support.

We hope to see you all again for the next installment of Raffertys Coastal Run in July 2024!
