Prepare yourself for an action-packed day of fun set amongst the pine forests of Wild Horse Mountain in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Our event caters to teams of all skill levels, with a special focus on welcoming newbies and first-timers. We want everyone to experience the joy and excitement of adventure racing!

Choose from two fantastic course options: the Novice (beginner) and the Classic distance. We’ve also prepared a special Kids Course for the little ones, ensuring that the whole family can get involved.

Which course should I choose?
The Novice Course consists of approximately 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Plenty of kid/ parent teams take on the novice course. The minimum age is 8 when accompanied by an adult and 14 years if two teenagers are racing together.

The Classic Course consists of approximately 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking.

How does it work?
Working together in teams of two you must visit each of the checkpoints in turn by navigating the course by foot, mountain bike and kayak. The course is kept secret until race day, with maps revealed to you when you collect your race bag at registration. Checkpoints should be collected in order – missed checkpoints will add to your final race time, and bonus checkpoints (if collected) will give you a time deduction.

Blue Mountains Max Adventure Race

The Max Adventure Race Series is heading to the magnificent Blue Mountains on September 16th, 2023!

The Blue Mountains, with its twisting bush trails, steep green gullies, deep sandstone gorge and the mighty Nepean River will test your endurance, strategy, and teamwork. If you haven’t tried adventure racing before this is the perfect opportunity to get out there and have a fantastic time with your teammate in one of our beautiful National Parks.

This year the Classic Course will take you through the iconic Glenbrook Gorge – always a favourite! We can guarantee the wet feet will be worth it, this is truly beautiful Blue Mountains terrain, unlike anything else in the world.

The Novice Course is shorter and sweeter but still with all the elements of an epic and challenging adventure.
