Victoria...It's Your Turn

8th October 2014

Don't Miss Out in the Rush!

Kathmandu Adventure Race, Lysterfield Lake
Saturday 8th November, 2014

A month to go, that’s it until the Kathmandu Adventure Race Series finally hits Victoria for 2014.

NSW has enjoyed 3 rip-roaring events in the series already, Queensland has had its turn, Victorians have had to wait nearly all year, but the time is here. Entries are filling fast so what are you waiting for, get involved and sign up!

Still need convincing? Well how about kilometre after kilometre of flowing groomed single track to tear up on the bike legs. You won’t be able to help grinning when you click into that groove and start kicking up the dirt. Running your strong suit? Great terrain for that too, open flat country means you will really be able to stretch out. Then we add in a calm freshwater lake to explore on the kayaks, all will be quiet and serene, until the flashing paddle blades hit that is!

If that all sounds a little too pacy and racy, maybe you’re like most of us, not as fit as we once were, not going to be up with the leaders but still have that glint in the eye and the little butterflies going when we think of getting outside on a warm November day to challenge ourselves to go as hard as we can, laugh with your team mate along the way, and maybe enjoy a well earned sneaky fast food hit on the way home. Well this is the event for you too!

Something for everyone, a 3-6 hour adventure a short hop from the heart of Melbourne at one of the cities favourite outdoor playgrounds, Lysterfield Lake. The rest of Australia has had their turn, you know you want too, go on, click the button below, you won’t regret it!

For both the Big AND Little Kids!

Mud Run, Horsley Park, Sydney, NSW
Saturday 6th December, 2014

We all know there is “that little kid” deep down inside us that loves to get out and play in the mud. Honestly that’s the reason most adults enter the Mud Run isn’t it? What other reason do you need? You could add 30 fun obstacles, a cold beer for the finish, a fun day out with friends and family! Family?

Speaking of family, what about the little kids? To make sure those “actual kids” are able to enjoy Mud Run we are again hosting the 1km Mud Dash for kids aged 5-11 yrs. Yep they get to take on some of the big kid obstacles but also have some dedicated to them, and this year they will get LOTS more mud. Just for them! The Mud Dash is available at 8:00 and 8:30am and again at 3:30 and 4:00pm. And of course we will have the free jumping castle there too.

Take advantage of our “pre-ordered” Mud Run MERCHANDISE to not only save a few dollars but to reiterate your achievement on the day and remember the fun you had. Plus it looks great.

If you are yet to enter then what is your excuse? Sign up the big and little kids for some grubby fun.

Wombat 100 - Entries Open 3 November

Wombat 100, Woodend, Victoria
Sunday 12th April, 2015

The Wombat 100, one of Victoria’s premier XCM mountain bike events is back on the 12th April 2015. Hosted from Cammeray Waters just outside of Woodend, this 200 acre first class conference and function centre is the perfect backdrop to a weekend of mountain bikes, camping, beer and mates. Located just one hour outside of Melbourne and 40 minutes from Tullamarine airport, Cammeray Waters is easily accessible for riders just dropping in for the day; or if you prefer to make a weekend of it, there are 39 guest rooms and ample camping/parking space for all.

Course Options

Competitors will have the option to ride one of four course distances – 100km, 75km, 50km and 20km. The race includes the full range of trails and terrain in the Wombat State Forest and surrounding pine plantation with over 50% flowing groomed single track (including the famous Wombat track) – our promise of 100% dirt continues! That’s right, no bitumen starts, no riding on any magic carpets and certainly no insanely steep hills. This is not the toughest mountain bike event you will ever do, if you are looking for pain go punch yourself in the face. If you want a premium venue, great food, awesome course with loads of single track and an ice cold beer straight from the tap when you cross the finish line – then the Wombat 100 is for you!

Early Bird Entry Special

Yes we noticed, Victorians will wait until 5 minutes before the gun goes to sign-up for a race! We also know your a bit tight. So here’s a conundrum for you – we are offering a 10% discount on our standard entry for all distances – limited to the month of November only. Before you crack a brain cell doing the math, you could save $25 on a 100km entry if you enter in November. That buys you a new chain for your steed, needed because you will wear out the old one with all the training you plan to do.

Entries for all course distances will open on the 3rd November – put the date in your diary and come and join us for a great day of mountain biking. For more details click the link below.

Get in early for 2015

Kathmandu Adventure Race Series 2015
Newcastle, NSW, Sat 14th/Sun 15th February
Sunshine Coast, QLD, Saturday 21st March

The weather is warming up, the sun is up for longer and longer each day meaning you have no excuse to not be ramping up your training heading into summer and 2015. The question is, what are we training for?

It is always easier to avoid the snooze button and hit up that early morning fitness session or to smash that one last hill repeat when you have a goal at the end of the tunnel. With that in mind entries are now open for the first two adventure races of the 2015 series, NSW gets to go first with the event at the Glenrock State Conservation Area near Newcastle in February, quickly followed by the Queensland event at Wild Horse Mountain in March.

With both events within easy striking distance of their respective state capitals and featuring all the disciplines an adventure race should have now is the time to give yourself that goal for your summer training and enter!

No time to waste…
