The Coastal Classic takes you through the Royal National Park, along a stretch of coast line that is spectacular precisely because it is wild, remote and protected. Sometimes the conditions that make these places so special also mean that plans have to change. That’s what happened early in September, a Total Fire Ban meant the Royal National Park was closed and the Coastal Classic couldn’t take place as planned.
It was disappointing, for the runners who had trained for months, for those who had made plans around race day, and for our team. But that’s the reality of running through wild places.
And if there’s one thing trail runners are good at, it’s adapting. So, we’ve set a new date and we’re getting ready for November.
This means if you missed out on an entry previously, or you are keen to add this event onto your 2026 calendar you can. Entries are open and we would love to see you on the start line.
With the race moving into summer, we’ll be getting an earlier start, with runners heading off at 7:15am, otherwise, it’s still the Coastal Classic you know and love. 30km of technical trail, sandstone cliffs, beaches, bushland and big ocean views from Otford all the way to Bundeena.Behind this year’s Coastal Classic is a long history of runners who have returned year after year. Some once, some five times, some more than ten. Thousands of kilometres have been run along this coastline, through good weather, bad weather and all the little surprises that come with trail running.
This year will become another part of that story, why don’t you add your chapter!
